Working for minimum wage

Posted on November 27, 2014 at 9:16 am

Most of us have to work, it is a fact of life. But for many of us we may actually find ourselves worse off in work than out of it! This is a sad fact of life with the way the benefits system works and it is no wonder many people chose to stay at home than have a career. There are many people in the situation where they earn slightly too much as a couple to get any help with housing, council tax and nursery fees but still struggle.

If you are a mother or father wishing to return to work after the birth of a child and are considering full time nursery care then you have to consider the fees compared to the actual earnings you will be taking home. Often putting a child in nursery full time will cost between £800 – £1000 per month and with a monthly salary on a basic wage of not a lot more it is time to really consider your options. You will also need to take in to account fuel costs to get to and from work and what you will do should your child be ill and need time off nursery.

I believe that everyone that can, should work, but there needs to be an incentive.
